Camp Emerald Bay

I have found memories of summer camp as a child; my brother and I were extremely playful to say the least. Needless, to say I was thrilled to join Single Moms Planet on their camping trip, this was the 2nd Annual Scouts Camping trip. I Iove the Scouts and all they do for our young people.

Gabby and I arrived in San Pedro ready to experience all this camping trip had to offer. True Angelenos, we arrived via Uber with luggage in hand. We could sense the excitement in the air as we boarded the boat. The weather was perfect as we set out to Camp Emerald Bay, Camp Emerald Bay is located on Catalina Island. The wind blowing in our hair keeping the temperature just right. It was nice socializing with the other moms and kids during the scenic route.

As our boat approached Camp Emerald Bay, we could see camp leaders waiting to give us a warm welcome. I could tell we were going to have an amazing time, while creating memories that would last a life time. In High School, I was a part of JROTC. Our rooms reminded me of the housing I stayed in at Fort Ord.

There were so many fun activities for the kids. Our trip started with a tour of Pennington Marine Science Center. The center is used to educate campers on marine life found in the water of Catalina. In addition, campers could touch some of the marine life. This activity segued into snorkeling in the waters of Catalina. We could see some of the marine life from Pennington Marine Science Center. Other activities included archery, I believe this was Gabby’s favorite. We look forward to the next camping trip.
